Welcome to the Family Medicine Residency Program

Bradley HavinsA message from Bradley Havins, MD, Program Director

These are exciting times at Valley Hospital Medical Center as we are eager about the future of our Family Medicine Residency Program. Embarking on this journey, we look forward to providing you with an outstanding training experience in a setting that is not only educational, but caring and supportive. Our program’s longstanding goal is, and always has been, to produce excellent physicians who will be able to provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient medical care in the Las Vegas community.

Valley Hospital Medical Center's Family Medicine Residency Program is a three-year (36-month) postgraduate program. The program is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and maintains both DO and MD faculty attendings.

Continuity of care of our patients is a core philosophy and a top priority of our family medicine program. We provide the longitudinal hands-on training to our resident physicians at the Family Medicine Continuity Clinic (FMCC). Our didactic curriculum is designed to enhance the educational experience through lectures, group sessions, POCUS training and self-study. Noon lectures by physicians from all disciplines further daily teachings.

Residents are also exposed to extended care facilities during their second and third years with home visits further supplementing their learning. Monthly rotations take place in a long-established community hospital and at a local pediatric hospital/emergency room, while numerous outpatient rotations throughout the community enrich the learning process.

We are not just about medicine, we are family with a dynamic, talented and diverse faculty, as well as outstanding residents and staff. We provide excellent clinical programs with a diverse patient base while living in the wonderful Las Vegas community. We are constantly striving to improve the care provided to our patients and the training provided to our residents, while working together and caring for each other.

I am proud to be part of the Family Medicine team. I hope you have the opportunity to meet us in person and learn more about our program.
